Three year old colt Nordic Empire easily topped the Inglis Melbourne December Sale when knocked down for $260,000 on Friday.
“The results again showed the strength of the Victorian racing scene with good competition for all classes of racehorses,” Inglis director Peter Heagney said. “And it was equally as satisfying to have another clearances over 90%.”
Nordic Empire (3c Wilander – Brown Limestone by Rustic Amber) has won at Caulfield and Moonee Valley and placed second to Chivalry in the G3 McNeil Stakes. He was purchased by Inglis acting for a Victorian client who will keep the colt with current trainer Mick Price.
Failed enterprise BC3 Thoroughbreds initially bought him from Tosca Farm for $75,000 at the 2013 Adelaide Magic Millions. His dam had already thrown multiple winners by Bianconi and Alannan.
The Darley reduction created high interest with Important (Denman) going to John MacMillan for $90,000. The South Australian trainer fought off strong competition from Australian and Singapore buyers.
Faraja (Medaglia D’oro), a Sale maiden winner last month, was another sought-after Darley galloper eventually being knocked down to Luke Oliver for $54,000.
MacMillan also bought Contract Racing filly Novel Idea (New Approach). An Avoca win on Caulfield Cup day made it five winners from five to race for her dam River Fairy – a city winning half-sister to Contract Racing’s G1 Oakleigh Plate winner River Dove.
Group placed filly Singularity (Not A Single Doubt) was sold to WA based Gold Front Thoroughbreds owner Alan Olive for $75,000. The Flemington Group 3 placegetter is from the stakes winning family of Biscay’s star mare Biscalowe.
