Noverre gelding nails Alice Springs Cup

He’s Here gave former Darley shuttler Noverre a welcome feature winner when he scored a narrow victory in the XXXX Gold Alice Springs Cup on Monday.  In a close finish, He’s Here and Top End hoop Paul Denton defeated General Market by a neck.  The 2008 NT Derby winner Protesta  was third.

He’s Here (4g Noverre – Salty Sal by Salt Lake) is now prepared  by Kerry Petrick after failing to fire in Victoria for Peter Moody.

His sire Noverre  is a three-quarter brother to Independent Stallions sire Arazi (Blushing Groom) who was the Champion 2yo of his generation in Europe and North America.

Noverre (Rahy) wasn’t in that league but he was a G2 winner of the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster as a two year-old.  The following year he progressed to G1 level with a victory in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood.

Darley shuttled him to Australia from 2003 to 2007 before he was re-routed to stand at Sohna Stud in India last year.

His Australian bred progeny have a 51% strike rate, however, none of his 45 winners to date have gone on to win at black-type level.

He’s Here is from Salty Sal, a winning half-sister to to A’int Here (Dehere) who was Group placed in a Caulfield Guineas Prelude and a HK International Cup.

Salty Sal has a yearling colt by Untouchable and a weanling colt Nadeem.
