NZ Ready to Run Sale – Katie a Kiwi Pin-Up

Katie Lee completed a Group 1 double for Waikato Stud sire Pins when she overcame a checkered run in transit to win the NZ 1000 Guineas at Riccarton on Saturday.  The Graeme Rogerson trained filly was simply stunning against the colts in the 2000 Guineas on November 7 and she was just as impressive against the fillies on Saturday.

Katie Lee (3f Pins – Miss Jessie Jay by Spectacularphantom) is the fifth Group 1 winner for Pins and her second victory at the elite level will boost the value of the 8 lots he has entered for the Ready to Run Sale on Tuesday.

Bred by Hallmark Stud, Katie Lee is from the Miss Distinction family which includes the Group winners Gee I Jane (BTC Cup & Telegraph Hcp), San Bernadino (G3 Stewards Hcp), and Katie Lee’s G3 winning dam Miss Jessie Jay.

Rogerson trains the filly for Cambridge Stud’s Sir Patrick and Lady Justine Hogan.  They purchased Katie Lee out of the Karaka Premier Sale for $340,000 in 2008.

The Pins gelding out of Winds of Conquest (Lot 147) from Phoenix Park has a pedigree update since the Ready to Run catalogue went to press.  His older half-sister O’Tobefamous (Zabeel) has won a further two races in Melbourne.  Winds of Conquest (Quest for Fame) is already the dam of G3 winner Coup Bloomsbury (Centaine).
