Black Minnaloushe has six lots catalogued for the NZ Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale and their value would have increased when his daughter Black Mamba sold for US$1.5 million at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Sale earlier this week.
Black Mamba was purchased by Hong Kong-based owner P.K. Siu and will now be set for the G1 Hong Kong Vase on December 9.
Black Mamba was bred in NZ by Hawke’s Bay businessman Sam Kelt and Sue Foote of Keltern Stud and she has compiled a 34: 7-7-4 career card with $988,840 in earnings.
Black Mamba (Black Minnaloushe – Sneetch by Grosvenor) scored a signature victory in the 2008 John C. Mabee Hcp (G1) and also landed two editions of the Beverly Hills Hcp. She bowed out with a Listed victory in the Dowager Stakes (2400m) at Keeneland on October 25.
Black Mamba is out of the G3 winner Sneetch and is a half-sister to Flemington winner Gussy Godiva (Last Tycoon) who is the dam of G1 AJC Australian Derby winner Roman Emperor (Montjeu).
Black Mamba (NZ) was initially sold as a yearling by Trelawney Stud at the Karaka Premier Sale for NZ$120,000 and after 10 starts in New Zealand was later sold to Doubledown Stables.
Mana Park has a Black Minnaloushe highlight catalogued as Lot 152. The gelding’s dam Yulia is a winning half-sister to G1 NZ 2000 Guineas placegetter Bois (Desert Sun).
