New Zealand Bloodstock’s catalogue for the 46th South Island Sale of 2YOs & Mixed Bloodstock is now online.

The South Island Sale will be held on Friday, August 9 at the Canterbury Agricultural Park in Christchurch.  It will be the final year as a 2YO Sale as the 2014 edition will be brought forward to April and formally become the ‘South Island Session’ of the 2014 National Yearling Sales Series.

Graduates who have continued the Sale’s proud history on the track this season are headed by Blood Brotha (Danzighill) who captured the elusive New Zealand Cup/Wellington Cup double earlier in the season.  Gallopers such as Martin (Colombia), Capone (Al Akbar) and Natuzzi (Coats Choice) have provided further stakes success in New Zealand and Singapore.

This year’s catalogue includes a total of 82 entries, 79 of which are untried two-year-olds, by 38 sires from throughout Australasia.

Stallions represented include Any Suggestion, Elusive City, Falkirk, Iffraaj, Keeper, Lonhro, Mastercraftsman, Pentire, Pins, Savabeel, Tavistock and Thewayyouare, as well as South Island based sires including Coats Choice, Edenwold and Gallant Guru.

Some of the highlights on offer at this year’s South Island Sale include:

Lot 29:  Pins colt from the dual stakes winning and G1 placed O’Reilly mare Ombre Rose who was crowned NZB’s 2006 Southern Filly of the Year.

Lot 56:  Lonhro colt from the G1 Queensland Oaks winning mare Vitesse Dane (Danewin).

Lot 64:  Mastercraftsman colt from the stakes winning mare Ascot Isle (Ascot Knight).

Lot 78:  Half-sister to leading South Island performers, the dual Group 3 winner Inferno and last season’s NZB Southern Filly of the Year and stakes winner Ortem Fire.
