Speed suits Bianconi Flyer

Trainer Shea Eden believes Flyingconi can maintain winning form after breaking a run of outs last Saturday.

Flyingconi (5g Bianconi – Adulate by Flying Spur) stormed home from the back of the field to claim the Peak Hcp (1200m) at Moonee Valley.  “I told the owners to be patient and stick with him,” Eden said.  “All that he needed was a bit of luck.”

Flyingconi won two in a row at Flemington last year including a heat of the Swettenham Stud Summer Championship but had gone 11 starts without adding to that total.  “The times were similar to those wins but he was running them from near last in slowly run races.  It was impossible to win under those circumstances.

“He finally got a race run to suit on Saturday.  He’s a genuine Saturday class horse and can keep winning if the speed is on.”

Flyingconi is by Swettenham Stud sire Bianconi and was a $12,000 buy at the 2009 Adelaide Magic Millions.  Shea sold him to part-owners Bruce Bugg, Vince del Nigro, Kent Eden and Glenn Trimble and the gelding has earned over $170,000.

Bianconi (Danzig) is a Swettenham stalwart and is gearing up for his 14th season at Nagambie this year.  The sire of 481 individual winners at a 62% strike-rate, he will stand for a $7,700 (inc gst) service fee.

Hoofnote:  The Moonee Valley victory came just a day before Eden’s open day at his Corinella stables on the shores of Western Port Bay.  Among the yearlings he has for syndication is a Swettenham-bred yearling colt by Hold That Tiger from G3 Argentina winner Lucky For Me.
