An Oasis Dream colt headed trade on Day 2 of the Arqana yearling sale on Tuesday when making 300,000 euros to the bid of MAB agent Marc-Antoine Berghgracht. The colt was offered by Ecurie des Monceaux and is the second foal out of the Listed performer Rose Melody.
Berghgracht was acting for owners Anthony Forde and Ahmed Mouknass who have raced Listed winner Liliside as well as smart juvenile Nova Step. The latter was G3 placed in the Prix des Réservoirs at Deauville a couple of hours before the session-topper walked through the ring.
A Oasis Dream colt had been second on the Deauville leader-board during Day 1 when realising 180,000 euros.
Pau-based trainer François Rohaut joined Sheikh Hamdan’s list of trainers this year and he will take care of two more well-bred fillies under the Shadwell Estates banner. Rohaut bought a daughter of American Post for 170,000 euros and another Oasis Dream filly that fetched 100,000 euros.
Sheikh Hamdan’s other French based trainers were also active at Deauville on Tuesday. John Hammond signed for a 95,000 euros Shamardal colt and Jean-Claude Rouget bought a daughter of Iffraaj for 80,000 euros.
Darley’s first crop sire Teofilo was represented by a 102,000 euros half-sister to the Group winner Little Treasure that appealed to trainer David Smaga.
Day 2 of the Deauville Sale saw an 82% clearance rate and the average price was a satisfactory 38,225 euros.
Arqana president Eric Hoyeau was pleased with results from Part 1 of the October Sale. “It’s a very deep market, as shown by the excellent clearance rate and the median being close to the average,” he said. “That’s generated a positive and dynamic atmosphere throughout the first two sessions.”
Part 2 of the sale continues on Wednesday and Thursday. Full results on www.arqana.com.
