Oceanfast made the early running when the Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale kicked off at Newmarket on Tuesday morning. The 15 year-old mare was catalogued as Lot 68 and made $700,000 to the bid of Victorian based Peter Ford Thoroughbreds.
Oceanfast (Monde Bleu) was sold by Yarraman Park (as agent) in foal to Fastnet Rock. She is the dam of six winners headed by Champion 3YO Alinghi. The Encosta de Lago filly was a G1 winner of the VRC Newmarket, MRC Blue Diamond and One Thousand Guineas.
New Zealand agent Guy Mulcaster paid $620,000 for More Than Ready mare Ready To Lift (Lot 95). A five-time stakes winner in Sydney for Gerald Ryan, she retired to stud last year and is in foal to High Chaparral.
Ready To Lift is a half-sister to the G2 winners Dopff (Tights) and Rizon (Zabeel). She won to G3 level in the AJC Summer Cup and STC Kingston Town Stakes.
Patronyme was next best on the leader-board during the first-half of Tuesday’s session. She was purchased by Widden Stud for $425,000 in foal to Fastnet Rock.
Catalogued as Lot 79, the More Than Ready mare was raced by Triple Crown Syndications to 6 wins including the G3 Birthday Card Stakes and Listed Triscay Stakes.
The clearance rate was 56% after the first 100 lots through the sale ring. The sale continues on Wednesday (Lots 201 – 400) and Thursday (Lots 401 – 600).
