Omixochitl 216th Stakes-winner by More Than Ready

Omixochitl stalked the early pace before kicking away in the straight to capture Saturday’s Miss Gracie Stakes (LR, 1700m) at Gulfstream Park by a length.

Trained by Fausto Gutierrez, the 3yo daughter of More Than Ready has won 5 of her 9 starts for the St. George Stable of Mexican billionaire German Larrea.  She’s a stablemate of Letruska, the 2021 Eclipse Champion Filly-Mare on dirt in North America.

“She’s a very competitive filly with a lot of class,” Gutierrez said.  “She’s from a nice family and has got a lot of stamina to run long.”

Jockey Edgar Perez secured a perfect stalking trip aboard Omixochitl who had run a very close second in the Honey Rider Stakes (LR) on the Gulfstream grass last time out.

She is the first named foal out of unraced mare Goodbye Kid (Lemon Drop Kid) who is a half-sister to More Than Ready’s multiple Group winner Tom’s Ready and his Japanese Group 2 Marguerite Stakes winner Jean Gros.

Omixochitl is the 216th Stakes winner by More Than Ready.  The Vinery legend passed 2,100 individual winners when the Sir Peter Vela-bred mare Ipso Facto broke her maiden at Cambridge on June 29.
