Outreach to stand at Widden Stud

Group performed colt Outreach has been added to the Widden Stud roster for 2016.

A son of Exceed and Excel, he’s a full brother to G1 Golden Slipper winner Overreach and a three-quarter brother-in-blood to G1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner and leading young sire Reward For Effort.

Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Outreach was a brave second on debut in the G3 Canonbury Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill in January 2015.  He led all the way as favourite before being run down late by subsequent Golden Slipper winner Vancouver.

Injured in running, Outreach was subsequently retired without another start.  “Outreach was without doubt Golden Slipper class,” Peter Snowden claimed.  “He was a colt with genuine Group I winning speed and I was confident he would have given the 2015 Slipper a shake.

“His debut performance to stretch Vancouver was incredible given he wasn’t screwed down.”

Carrying the same brand as Widden’s Golden Slipper winning sire Sebring, Outreach is a homebred for Corumbene Stud’s George Altomonte.  “We considered Outreach a superior type to his sister Overreach,” said Altomonte.  “Peter said he was a flying machine.

“We know the horse’s ability and will be supporting him heavily.  He fits the profile of a young stallion that has the capacity to sire early running types.”

Outreach will stand for an introductory service fee of $7,700 (inc gst).
