A running double for Darling View Thoroughbreds sires in the G3 Champion Fillies Stakes is back on the drawing board after it was confirmed Pat’s Got Sass will be set for the Ascot summer carnival.
Pat’s Got Sass is a 17 hands daughter of Patronize and she can emulate Watch Me Dance (I’m All The Talk) who won it last year on the way to a Group 2 victory over the colts in the WA Guineas. The 2021 edition of the $200,000 WA Champion Fillies (1600m) will be run and won at Ascot on Saturday, November 13.
Trainer David Harrison had initially intended to give her an extended spell following a close third to Ex Sport Man (Playing God) in the G2 Karrakatta Plate in April. “I checked in on her late last month,” he told the West Australian Newspaper. “She looked good in the paddock and I decided she was ready to go back into work.”
Pat’s Got Sass (3f Patronize – Sassy Flyer by Due Sasso) went out a $5.50 favourite in the Karrakatta after an eye-catching debut at Ascot. “For a filly that size, she’s so balanced and just glides over ground,” Harrison said. “She’s a natural and will be nominated for all the big three-year-old races.”
Bred by Darling View, she’s a full-sister to their LR Perth Stakes winner Chix Pic. Sassy Flyer is a half-sister to Listed winners McLurch (Hannans Hcp) and Raw Metal (Ruabon Sprint). Her latest foal is a yearling colt by Darling View sire Lucky Street (Oratorio) who won the 2015 Karrakatta Plate.
Patronize (Redoute’s Choice) is a three-quarter brother to champion sire Exceed And Exceed and his winning strike-rate of 73% is second to none in WA. He stands at Darling View Thoroughbreds for a $4,400 (inc GST) service fee.
