Patronize is the latest son of Redoute’s Choice to be credited with a winner. The WA based sire broke through with very impressive Ascot winner Jestpatim on Saturday.
Jestpatim (2g Patronize – Jestceny by Real Jester) flew the coop and controlled the race in front to score by more than four lengths in the Pink 2YO Plate (1100m). He started a red-hot favourite after an eye-catching third in the Magic Millions Classic on February 11.
“The run in the Magic Millions was super, he ran the fastest last 600 of the race,” trainer David Harrison said. “We may look towards the Karrakatta Plate with him now.”
Jestpatim is the only starter to date by Patronize who is a Redoute’s Choice three-quarter brother to Exceed And Excel. He stood at Canardly Farm before moving to Darling View Thoroughbreds in 2010.
Patronize was raced in partnership by Kia Ora Stud’s Ananda Krishnan after changing hands for $750,000 at the 2004 Inglis Easter yearling sale. He bolted in on debut at Gosford and added another win during his first and only campaign at Newcastle as a spring four year-old in 2006.
Darling View owner Clive Atwell stands Patronize for a $5,500 fee at his Mundijong nursery south of Perth. Atwell also raced Jestpatim’s dam Jestceny who won at her only start at Ascot in December 2006.
Jestpatim’s second dam Larceny Lady (Magic of Money) is a sister to stakes winning Perth sprinter Vizard. The mare has foaled fillies by Patronize for the last two years at Darling View.
