Raheen Stud’s record at the Magic Millions 2YO Sale received another boost at the back of last season when Perfect Weapon won three times in four starts at Warwick Farm.
Perfect Weapon (Canny Lad) has now won 7 races for over $153,000 in prizemoney and the best is yet to come for the Greg Hickman trained sprinter. He was a $55,000 graduate from Raheen’s draft at the Magic Millions 2YO HIT Sale in 2011.
Basil Nolan jnr is prepping another quality consignment of 14 youngsters for this year’s 2YO Sale next month. The majority are by resident sire Publishing and Captain Sonador who died at Raheen earlier this year.
“Publishing has a cracking sister to Ruby Soho,” Nolan said referring to Lot 72. “She was placed in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and Liam Birchley is setting her for the Magic Millions 3YO Trophy in January.”
Another Publishing with a bright future is Royal Scribe who won the Grafton Guineas at his penultimate start for trainer David Kelly. His younger half-brother by Jet Spur will parade as Lot 186 at the Magic Millions 2YO Sale.
Raheen has four first-crop colts by Group 1 Epsom Handicap winner Captain Sonador catalogued for the 2YO Sale. “It was heart-breaking when we lost him in February after just three books,” Nolan explained. “All the feedback we’ve received from the breakers has been very positive.”
Nolan nominated the colts from Lethal Intent (Lot 23) and Millibaci (Lot 43) as the pick of his Captain Sonadors heading to the Gold Coast.
Raheen sire Golden Archer has his first foals on the ground at Warwick and among the August deliveries is an outstanding colt from Doomben winner Matilda’s Dance. She descends from Group 1 mare Canny Lass.
Another mare with an early PPT is Perfect Weapon’s dam Shamsie.
Golden Archer will cover his second book at Raheen for a $6,600 (inc gst) service fee this year.
