Perfect result at Magic Millions HIT Sale

Champion Australian sire Fastnet Rock was back in vogue during Day 2 of the Magic Millions HIT Sale on Thursday.  His colt from G1 winning mare Perfect Promise made $240,000 to the bid of Serene Lodge owner Les Tinkler.

The session-topper was consigned by Think Big Stud.  “He’s a lovely big horse,” Tinkler said.  “And when you consider the prices that the Fastnet Rocks were making a few months ago – he looks very good value and a great prospect.”

Another colt to sell well was the Exceed and Excel – Undercover colt from Rothwell Park that was purchased for $180,000.  He is from the family of Golden Slipper winner Polar Success and will head to NSW after being snapped up by Magic Millions as agent.

Singapore clients led the way at the HIT Sale with 46 lots purchased at a gross of over $2.70 million.  There was also strong interest from Macau, China, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Korea.

All up. the MM National Horses in Training Sale trade reached $8.79 million at an average of $40,719.  The clearance rate rounded out at 69%.  “The average was down just $500 on last year’s record,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said.  “There was good participation from international buyers and the domestic bench was strong.  Vendors should be congratulated for what was widely considered as the best crop of two-year-olds offered at the HIT Sale.”

Selling concludes on the Gold Coast on Friday with the National Racehorse Sale featuring the Patinack Farm Unreserved Racehorse Reduction Sale.
