Pitleco retires to Greenfields Stud

Pitleco is the latest son of Exceed And Excel to retire to stud.  Greenfields Stud’s Neil Randall will stand him at the historic property at Capel in Western Australia.

Pitleco (4h Exceed And Excel – Twiglet by Twig Moss) was a $310,000 purchase by Anthony Cummings on behalf of Patinack Farm at the 2008 Inglis Easter yearling sale.  Unfortunately, a leg injury prevented him from racing.

His dam Twiglet has also foaled Group 1 racehorse and Wattle Brae Stud sire Easy Rocking (Barathea) plus Champion Hong Kong sprinter Fairy King Prawn (Danehill).

Greenfields is an icon of the Sunspeed industry having been home to champion stallions The Lampert, Filipino and Nauplia when the late Rowley Roberts owned the property.

Exceed And Excel’s sons at stud include the Queensland based Grand Harmony (Bailiwick Stud) and Exceedingly Good (Secret Hills Farm).  His G1 Blue Diamond winner Reward For Effort (Chatswood Stud) will start covering his first mares in Victoria this spring.

Exceed And Excel’s three-quarter brother Patronize (Redoute’s Choice) is also based in Western Australia at Darling View Thoroughbreds.

Neil Randall is a popular figure in Perth’s football and racing circles.  He was a premiership player with Subiaco in the 1970s and nowadays is President of the Subiaco Football Club and the WA branch of the Australian Hotels Association.

Randall also stands the former Bart Cummings trained import Carpanetto (Peintre Celebre) at Greenfields.  He has sired the first-crop winners Class to Go and On the Coast from a handful of starters.
