Champion WA sire Playing God opened his city account for 2025-26 when promising 3yo My Authoritah knuckled down to nail the MCA Polytrack Maiden (1200m) at Belmont on Wednesday.
The Dan Morton-trained gelding went out an odds-on favourite and settled on the speed and under a hold before responding for Chris Parnham to defeat late closers Productive (Rommel) and Hoya Destroyer (Smart Missile).
My Authoritah (3g Playing God – Cathay Belle by Northern Meteor) had been unplaced in two juvenile starts in March and looks a forward type for the stable following the narrow first-up victory. “It was a savvy ride by Chris and it’s good to see this horse get the job done,” Morton said. “He’s big and green and there’s plenty of improvement because the Playing Gods do come on.”
Morton outlaid $80,000 to buy him at the 2024 Perth Magic Millions for large syndicate that includes Ross Waddell, Bill Beament, Gary Dickie, Stan Quinlivan, Fred Fairthorne and his brother Sean Morton.
My Authoritah was bred and sold by TBWA Vice-President Peter Vincent (De Grey Park) through Alwyn Park Stud (as agent) and is the final from NSW winner Cathay Belle who was purchased by John Chalmers (as agent) for $44,000 at the 2018 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
She hailed from the Lomar Park family of Super Elegant (Mister C) who was a Group 1 winner of the BTC Doomben Ten Thousand and SAJC Goodwood Hcp.
