Kay Cee jumped aboard Playing God’s winning carousel with a convincing victory at Belmont on Wednesday.

She is the second city winner in a week for Mungrup Stud’s Group 1 son of Blackfriars. He sired Heavenly Affair to win the Furphy Hcp at Belmont last Wednesday.

Kay Cee is prepared by Neville Parnham and was facing the starter for the second time in the TAB Touch Better Your Bet Hcp (1400m). The 3yo filly is a homebred for Greg & Kathy Edwards who have been clients of the Parnham family for over 50 years.

“It was a good run first-up and, in hindsight, we should have run her in blinkers because she was a bit green,” Parnham admitted. “We added them today and Steve (Parnham) said she still got lost after hitting the front.

“She pushed out for more room on the corner and hit the line good. She’s a nice horse and will be better when we sit her further off the pace.”

Kay Cee’s dam Flirt ‘n’ Hope (McFlirt) has a new-season 2yo from the final crop of former Mungrup sire Red Hot Choice. Second-dam Lizzy Long Legs (Steel Glow) won a G3 Scahill Stakes at Ascot following a Group 1 placing behind Northerly and Old Comrade in the 2000 Railway Stakes.

Playing God has sired 17 individual winners of 29 races from his first two crops headed by stakes winners Lordhelpmerun (G3 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes) and Platoon (LR Roberts Stakes).

The Playing God double book-ended another feature win for Mungrup Stud champion Oratorio last Saturday. His grey gelding Swift Platinum scored a front-running victory in the $120,000 Broome Cup adding that silverware to recent Pilbara trophies in the Roebourne Cup and Harding Cup at Port Hedland.

Playing God and Oratorio stand at Mungrup Stud for $11,000 alongside I’m All The Talk and A Lot (USA) at $5,500.
