Pluck full at Vinery

Breeders’ Cup winner Pluck met with unanimous approval when he paraded for the first time at Vinery last week.

Within days of the Stud’s Stallion Parade, Vinery’s Adam White announced Pluck’s book for 2012 had been filled.  “He was very well received,” White explained.  “Everybody could see his quality.  He settled in well and just looks fantastic.

“Pluck has proven to be a very affordable to a wide range of breeders at an $11,000 service fee.  And the quality of mares he is going to receive includes many stakes winners.”

Pluck is a son of Vinery’s ‘team captain’ More Than Ready and he  staged one of the most unforgettable wins in Breeders’ Cup history at Churchill Downs in 2010.

Jumping from the widest barrier over the 1600m turf course in the BC Juvenile, he stumbled at the break and was settled at the back of the pack by jockey Garrett Gomez.  He averted a potential disaster when Rough Sailing fell and ended up sprawled across the track.  Pluck had to veer sharply, narrowly missing the fallen jockey, which left him more than 10 lengths off the leaders.

As they straightened, Pluck began to weaved his way through the field with a turn of foot that prompted the race caller to shout;  “Here comes Pluck from the clouds looking like he just jumped in at the quarter pole…and Pluck comes from last to first to win in a canter!”

Pluck is out of stakes winner Secret Heart, a daughter of successful Sadler’s Wells stallion Fort Wood.  Pluck’s first three dams are all stakes winners and they have produced 11 stakes winners and 3 Group 1 winners.  Two time Horse Of The Year London News is among them.
