Super Easy (NZ) entered the record books when increasing his unbeaten run to 12 in a row at Kranji on Sunday evening.
Super Easy (3c Darci Brahma – Parfore by Gold Brose) equalled Better Than Ever’s record but had to dig deep to overhaul tough sprinter Captain Obvious in the G3 Jumbo Jet Trophy. “I was a bit worried he wasn’t going to get there,” trainer Michael Freedman said. “I thought we were going to run second to the tough old sprinter.
“To be giving Captain Obvious three or four lengths start into the straight on a track that suited leaders was a very good effort and would be right up there with one of his best wins to date.”
Bred by Michael Ryan, Super Easy was offered by Esker Lodge at NZ Bloodstock’s 2010 Karaka Premier Sale where he was purchased by Blue Sky Thoroughbreds for $140,000. Now raced by the Joy N Happiness Stable, he has banked over $1.20 million.
Super Easy was one of three winners for Freedman and his sire Darci Brahma on Sunday. Super Shadow won on debut and Ronnie Brown made it two-for-two in the Class 4.
Super Shadow (NZ) was purchased by Tim Stakemire from Gordon Cunningham’s Curraghmore Stud for $60,000 at the 2011 Karaka Premier Sale. He was later purchased by Freedman for $320,000 at NZ Bloodstock’s 2YO Ready to Run Sale.
Freedman also bought Ronnie Brown (NZ) for $170,000 from Wentwood Grange at the 2011 Karaka Premier Sale. The gelding cruised home to win by just under two lengths for the Mummify Stable.
Seven Kiwi-bred gallopers were successful on Sunday’s Kranji card. The other four were Rimsky (Keeninsky), Oasis Spur (Rusty Spur), Carnival Star (Captain Rio) and Bazinga (Fastnet Rock).
