Patinack Farm could have a serious contender for the 2012 Queensland Oaks following the impressive victory by Pretty Pins in the QTIS Ascend Sales Hcp at Doomben on Saturday.
Pretty Pins (3f Pins – Luna Tudor by Military Plume) stormed home in the heavy conditions to easily account for her rivals over 1600 metres. The NZ bred filly has been in great form since winning her maiden at Doomben in September but connections aren’t pulling up stumps just yet.
“There’s another race for her over 2000m later this month and then she will go out for a spell,” Patinack Farm spokesman Brett Killion said. “You can do anything with her and the way she relaxes indicates she will get a lot further. She’s a real gem.”
Patinack Farm owner Nathan Tinkler bought her for $280,000 at the 2010 NZ Bloodstock yearling sale.
Pretty Pins is a younger half-sister to G1 Toorak Hcp winner Allez Wonder (Redoute’s Choice). Tinkler paid $1 million for her at the Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale earlier this year.
They are both from G2 Perth Cup winner Luna Tudor. She has a yearling colt by Pins and Trelawney Stud has catalogued him as Lot 302 for the 2012 NZB Karaka Premier yearling sale.
