Promising Prince by Sequalo

Sequalo local The Jazzy Prince made it two wins from as many starts with another promising victory in the Channel 7 Handicap (1000m) at Toowoomba on Wednesday.

The Jazzy Prince (5h Sequalo – Jazzy’s Jewel by Alto-Vita) was always in the firing line behind front-runner Mauve Lady and then streaked clear to score by over a length eased down.  He had won by next to four lengths on debut in the QTIS 600 Yearling Maiden Plate at Clifford Park on April 2.

Toowoomba trainer Tony Sears has been patient with the stallion who is now a rising six year-old.  “He had been a sick horse before I got him,” Sears revealed.  “He also had surgery for a wind problem so I’ve taken him along slowly.  I’ll give a month off and then think about taking him to Brisbane.”

The Jazzy Prince is raced by owner-breeder Wayne Quinlan.  He retained the horse after bidding failed to reach a $60,000 reserve at the 2007 Gold Coast Magic Millions Summer yearling sale.

Quinlan also races his younger brother Trail Boss with Sears and he scored at Doomben and Sunshine Coast last year.

Their dam Jazzy’s Jewel was an Eagle Farm winner and her half-sister Tyrannic (Spritely Knight) was a Listed winner of the Gold Nugget Stakes at the Gold Coast.

Jazzy’s Jewel died in November and her last foal is a yearling filly by Ferocity.

Sequalo is the latest in a long line of prolific winner-getters based at Lyndhurst Stud.  He has sired 488 individual winners of 1653 races at a 65% strike-rate.

The Jazzy Prince was the second leg of a winning double for Sears at Toowoomba.  He also prepares The Ringmaster (Clang) who scored a three length victory in the PSP Video QTIS 3YO Handicap (1000m).
