Testa Rossa’s dual stakes winner and best sprinting son Publishing will stand his first season this spring at Basil Nolan’s Raheen Stud in Warwick, Queensland.
An outstanding looking individual, Publishing was the highest priced Testa Rossa colt of his year, selling for $250,000 at the Magic Million’s January yearling sale on the Gold Coast.
His sire Testa Rossa is one of Australia’s best young sires and currently has among his growing list of stakes winners Rostova and Ortensia, who are among the best of their two and three-year-old generations.
Out of Sally Magic, who was runner up to Testa Rossa in the Magic Millions 2yo Classic, Publishing possesses a true colonial pedigree peppered with speed and precocity. He carries a double cross of the immortal Vain, as well as being from the same family as Champion 2yo colt Rancher.
A winner of 6 races from 1200m – 1400m at 2, 3 and 4, Publishing came to notice with a hat trick of wins in Melbourne by big margins as a three-year-old which earned him short price favouritism for the Magic Million’s 3yo Classic. Suffering a setback during the race, eventually won by Gold Edition, Publishing was sidelined for 9 months.
Publishing returned as a four-year-old to capture the VRC Standish Hcp Gr3 (1200m), down the arduous Flemington ‘Straight Six’. A true test of sustained speed, The Standish was also a race won by former leading Queensland based sire Iglesia.
Victory in the MRC TS Carlyon Cup Gr3 (1400m) ensured Publishing was well fancied against Niconero and Miss Finland in the MRC Futurity S. (1600m) where he finished on their heels, before being set for the SAJC Goodwood Hcp Gr1 (1200m) where he started favourite.
“We are delighted to be offering breeders a stallion that had genuine Group One ability and comes with an outstanding pedigree and conformation.” said Raheen Stud’s Basil Nolan.
“Publishing will be an ideal option for breeders wishing to race or sell and with a precocious pedigree and the ability like his sire to win at 2, 3 and 4 he’ll be an ideal QTIS stallion.”
“He will suit a vast array of mares including Danzig line mares which Testa Rossa’s star filly Rostova carries a double cross of.”
Publishing (Testa Rossa – Sally Magic) will stand his first season at Raheen Stud for $5,500 inc GST.
