Queensland Guineas winner on spring Quest

The Melbourne spring carnival beckons the Brett Partelle trained Torio’s Quest after his victory in the G2 Queensland Guineas (1600m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Torio’s Quest (3g Oratorio – Quest for Pleasure by Quest for Fame) stepped up to a mile with a barnstorming display that prompted Partelle to declare his best wins were still ahead.

” Make no mistake, he is a Group 1 horse – I said that after he won the Magic Millions 3YO Trophy in January,” Partelle recalled.  “I was very close to running him in the Stradbroke, but I thought a mile on a dry track was his go.”

Torio’s Quest thrashed his rivals by four lengths in the Guineas and will now be put away for Melbourne.  He was purchased by owner Bert Vieria for just $15,000 from the Bowness Stud draft at the 2009 Adelaide Magic Millions.

“What a bargain he’s turned out to be,” Vieria said.  “John North from Bowness told us he would develop into a top horse and he’s right!  We can’t wait for the spring.”

Vieira and Partelle also raced 2010 Magic Millions Cup winner Walking Or Dancing.

Torio’s Quest is by Coolmore sire Oratorio (Ire) and is one of three winners from three to race from an unraced daughter of G1 Victoria Oaks winner Sandy’s Pleasure.
