Value hunters soaked up the sunshine and left with some bargains during the concluding session of the Magic Millions National Sale at the Gold Coast on Thursday.
A general session of yearlings and a session of racehorses grossed over $600,000. Top price came in the supplementary catalogue for the National Racehorse Sale when promising Shamardal filly Quick’s the Word sold for $64,000.
The Darley draft provided the next five top sellers in the Racehorse Sale headed by Typeface ($37,000), Kiev ($30,000), Hadron ($25,000) and Intaglio ($16,000). The Racehorse Sale section averaged almost $5,000 at a clearance rate of 97%.
Earlier in the day, a general session of yearlings averaged $7,318 at a clearance rate of 62%. Topping the 42 lots that changed hands were a pair of Baramul Stud colts by Bel Danoro at $22,000.
The colt from Geography was purchased for a Singapore based buyer while the youngster from Secret Sister was snapped up by Queensland’s Furlong Stud.
The National Sale grossed $37.66 million over two weeks of selling. Some 1082 lots sold at an impressive sale average of almost $35,000 and clearance rate of 79%.
