Cashcard investment for Geard

Prominent owner Paul Geard received another return on his investment at the 2010 Tasmanian Magic Millions when his Dash For Cash gelding Gee Gees Cashcard scored a surprise last-start victory in Launceston.

Gee Gees Cashcard (3g Dash For Cash – Silver Barbie by Desert King) was racing second-up after a 16 week spell and paid $24 after dashing five lengths clear at the top of the straight.  “We thought he could win first-up in Hobart but got his tongue over the bit,” jockey David Pires revealed.  “We fitted a tongue-tie and it did the trick.”

The John Luttrell trained gelding was always travelling sweetly for Pires and still held a convincing margin over well-backed favourite Westering Home (West Quest) at the post.

Geard topped the leader-board at the 2010 Tasmanian Magic Millions with $80,000 for a Clangalang colt and $67,500 for a Dash for Cash yearling he later named Gee Gees Cashcard.  He is a grey half brother to G3 VRC Kensington Stakes winner Silver Bullion.

Swettenham resident Dash For Cash is finishing the current season with a flourish.  He has sired 80 winners of 120 races in Australia and is on target to beat his personal best of 89 winners of 140 races set in 2010-11.

Overall, he has sired 224 individual winners of 582 races world-wide at a 59% strike-rate.

Dash For Cash (Secret Savings) will stand for a $9,000 service fee at Swettenham Stud in 2012.  That has been discounted to $6,600 for early-bird bookings.
