Kentucky Oaks winner Rachel Alexandra has been purchased by Jess Jackson’s Stonestreet Stables.

The Medaglia d’Oro filly was a superb 20 length winner of the Kentucky Oaks (G1) last Friday for erstwhile owners Dolph Morrison and Mike Lauffer.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rachel Alexandra will be transferred from trainer Hal Wiggins to Steve Asmussen and plans could now include a start in the Preakness Stakes (G1) on May 16.  Her previous connections insisted she would not run against the colts this year.

Stonestreet Stables also raced Curlin and Rachel Alexandra will be bred to dual Horse of the Year Curlin upon her retirement from racing.

Jackson is looking forward to racing their offspring.  “But for now, the story of this filly is still being written,” Jackson said yesterday.  “She is fast, strong, and durable — the traits we should all be breeding into all future generations of race horses.”

Rachel Alexandra’s Oaks win was rated better than Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Mine That Bird.
