Rachel Alexandra delivered her second foal at Stonestreet Farms in Kentucky on Tuesday.
The foal is a filly by Darley shuttler Bernardini. Weighing in at a robust 64kg, she is the largest foal born at Stonestreet so far this year.
Rachel Alexandra (Medaglia d’Oro) was named 2009 USA Horse of the Year in a split decision over Zenyatta. She won the Kentucky Oaks and Mother Goose Stakes by a combined 40 lengths and also defeated colts in the Preakness, Haskell, and Woodward Stakes.
Her first-born last year is a colt by Curlin. She is booked to red-hot Gainesway Farm stallion Tapit this season.
Tapit is by A. P. Indy sire Pulpit and he was a G1 winner of the 2004 Wood Memorial before retiring to Gainesway where he is fully booked at a $125,000 fee. Zenyatta is due to foal to him in March.
