Queensland’s leading stud farm, Glenlogan Park, has pulled off a major coup for the upcoming season by acquiring the top rated juvenile Real Saga.
In obtaining the outstanding stud prospect, Glenlogan was able to stall off heavy competition from a number of prominent studs throughout Australia and New Zealand and will retire him to the breeding barn immediately.
Real Saga finished his 2YO season by being the equal highest rated Timeform 2YO colt of the last 10 years with a rating of 123. That figure ranks him the equal of Sebring, Meurice and Charge Forward whilst placing him higher than other top quality colts such as Bel Esprit, Exceed And Excel, Choisir, Stratum, Snitzel, Fastnet Rock and Murtajil at the same stage of their careers.
Real Saga burst onto the racing scene by effortlessly saluting in the first stakes event of the 2YO season, the Listed Breeders’ Plate.
From only six career starts the impressive son of Tale Of The Cat won four times, including emphatic victories in the G2 Todman Slipper Trial and G3 Blue Diamond Prelude, as well as finishing a desperately unlucky runner up in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes and also finishing a close up fourth in the G1 Golden Slipper where he started the ruling favourite.
Glenlogan Park principal Jon Haseler is delighted to have secured such an exciting and outstanding prospect. “Real Saga will fit ideally in to our stallion line-up for 2009 as he represents everything we have been targeting, and having so much success with, in recent years. A locally bred sprinter who possessed true Group One ability, he was the standout colt of his generation and had plenty of that all important ingredient – precocious speed. I am sure that both breeders and buyers alike will find him extremely attractive and, with his outstanding credentials, he looks destined to play a significant role in the Australasian breeding industry for many years to come.”
Glenlogan Park’s Manager Steve Morley added; “He is a magnificent individual and will develop into a very imposing horse. A big, strong colt with plenty of bone, great scope and depth he looks mature beyond his years and stands at almost 16.1 hands high. I am thrilled to be promoting a horse of his quality and credentials as he possesses everything we look for in a stallion prospect. He had a blistering turn of foot, was clearly dominant in his victories against classy opposition, he has all the strength and bone physically to leave youngsters that buyers will clamber for and he is a real athlete. This horse was the complete package and he compliments our roster of Show A Heart, Falvelon, Bradbury’s Luck and Jet Spur superbly. I am sure that there will be fierce competition to gain places with him this season.”
Real Saga will stand at an introductory service fee of $12,500 plus GST and there will be a limited number of shares available to selected breeders.
