Group 1 winning stallion Rebel Dane will stand at Swettenham Stud from the 2017 season.
Rebel Dane will continue racing in Group 1 company in Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide for the remainder of the season after career-highs in the G1 Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley and Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield.
Rebel Dane’s earnings exceed $2.40 million and, aside from his Group 1 victories, he won the Group 2 The Shorts, Group 2 Royal Sovereign Stakes and Group 3 Show County for trainer Gary Portelli and Laurel Oak Bloodstock.
“Standing Rebel Dane in Victoria is a natural fit as his two Group 1 wins were in Melbourne,” Laurel Oak manager Louis Mihalyka said. “The opportunity to stand him at Swettenham is simply a bonus as it’s a leading stud farm with a wonderful reputation and a well-established client base.”
By California Dane, Rebel Dane is bred on the Danehill – More Than Ready cross and as a Group 1 sprinter should make an exceptional Super VOBIS stallion.
Rebel Dane’s service fee will be announced shortly by Swettenham owner Adam Sangster.
