Record-breaking Magic Millions 2yo Sale in Malaysia

Dolphin Street made a successful start to his stud career at the Malaysian National Stud when a colt from his initial local crop made 230,000 Ringgit (AUD 74,333) at the Magic Millions Premier 2yo Sale at Ipoh on Friday.

All 43 lots on offer were sold for turnover of Rgt 2.66 million (AUD 859.685) at a record-breaking average of Rgt 62,698 (AUD 20,263).

The top priced Dolphin Street colt proved very popular with buyers and was purchased by leading Malaysian trainer Wayne Lim.  “All in all it was a remarkable day’s selling and everyone at the National Stud Farm is delighted,” Magic Millions MD David Chester said.  “And they should be congratulated for presenting the two-year-olds in such great condition – they were rewarded with record prices.”

Dolphin Street (Bluebird) was a G1 winner of the Prix de la Foret at Longchamp before retiring to stud in Ireland and Australia in 1995.  The best of his southern hemisphere stock were the G1 winners Miss Potential (VRC Empire Rose St), Spinning Hill (VRC Lightning St, MVRC Manikato St-twice) and Road To Success (VATC Blue Diamond St).

His early books topped the century but had dwindled to half that number for his last Australian season at Independent Stallions in 2005.  To date, he has sired 258 Australian bred winners at a 55% winners-to-runners strike rate.

Dolphin Street stands at the Malaysian National Stud with Becquerel (USA), Promontory Gold (USA), Magic Of Money (Aus) and Pacific Prince (Aus) who won the Perth’s G1 Fruit ‘N’ Veg Stakes twice as Summer Beau.
