Choisir was the leading sire of individual Australian two year-old winners in 2012-13 and his Mick Price trained colt Resistant began this season with another victory at Flemington on Saturday.
Resistant (3c Choisir – Swinging Babe by Encosta De Lago) was one of 22 individual juvenile winners by the Coolmore sire last season and he surged strongly in the Harland & Eades Hcp (1410m) going away by two lengths.
An $85,000 Inglis Melbourne Premier graduate, Resistant is raced by a large group of owners led by Luke Wilkinson with his breeder Cathy Hains of Burnewang North retaining a share as well.
Resistant has the smart record of two wins and four placings from eight starts and has banked in excess of $230,000 for connections. He is one of two winners from stakes-placed Encosta de Lago mare Swinging Babe who comes from the family of stakes-winner Carnelian.
Swinging Babe was covered last year by Choisir and will produce a full sibling to Resistant this spring.
