River on a roll for Danetime

Former Sunspeed shuttler Danetime is still a force in Perth even though his youngest stock are seven year-olds.

Saturday’s G3 Asian Beau Stakes winner Westriver Kevydonn is a member of that final crop and is racing as well as ever for owner-breeder Ted Hill and trainer Paige Kenney.  “He’s all class and will keep improving,” Kenney said.  “I’m just so proud of the horse, especially after the way he faded first-up in the Prince Of Wales last week.”

Westriver Kevydonn (7g Danetime – Dynique by Dynamo) benefited from a clever front-running ride by Pat Carbery.  The gelding controlled the race and was still a length clear on the line from Maschino (Encosta De Lago) and Kerrific (Blackfriars).

He had won the G3 R J Peters Stakes and LR Cyril Flower Sprint at Ascot last season and, overall, has won 8 races for earnings over $411,000.

Hill bought his dam Dynique when she was a winter two year-old.  A half-sister to G1 Karrakatta Plate winner Parlez Doux (Jevington), she had won an early-season Ascot scamper but cost just $5,500 at a Magic Millions Perth Sale in July 1997.

At stud, the mare started with the Old Spice winners West River Pride and West River Reward but her only other winner in the last decade has been Westriver Kevydonn.

Danetime (Danehill) died from a ruptured artery at Alwyn Park Stud in September 2005.  He had won the prestigious Stewards Cup at Goodwood as well filling Group 1 placings in the Newmarket July Cup and Haydock Sprint Cup.

He has three Irish bred son at studs in Australia – Bushranger (Eliza Park), Myboycharlie (Vinery) and Vital Equine (Touchstone Farm).  His WA bred sons are headed by So Secret (Rangeview Stud) and Famous Roman (Waterford Stud).
