King’s Rose had the prestigious NZ Bloodstock Filly of the Year award wrapped up before the last two legs of the Series were decided. The Jason Bridgman trained standout notched up 34 points which has only been exceeded by Katie Lee and Princess Coup in recent years.
King’s Rose (3f Redoute’s Choice) amassed an unassailable lead after wins in the G1 NZ Bloodstock 1000 Guineas, G3 Eulogy Stakes, G2 NZ Bloodstock Royal Stakes and G2 Sir Tristram Fillies Classic.
It’s the fourth NZB Filly of the Year title for Te Akau Stud in the last six years following Insouciant (2008), Princess Coup (2007) and Shikoba (2006).
King’s Rose’s name will be added to the roll-call of illustrious fillies to have claimed the NZB Series including Justa Tad, Vapour Trail, Savannah Success, Tycoon Lil and Solveig.
G1 New Zealand Oaks winner Midnight Oil (Keeper) was runner-up on 18 points followed by G2 Eight Carat Classic winner Smoulder (Traditionally) on 11.5 points.
