Singapore Matters for Stratum

Dark Matter is the latest Stratum to make an impact in Singapore.  The Steven Burridge trained gelding lived up to his exceptional trial form to win the QTIS 600 Yearling Sale Stakes at Kranji on Sunday evening.

Dark Matter (2g Stratum – Loving New by Choctaw Ridge) cruised home to win on debut by almost four lengths.  He was much too good for Kaiser (Seidnazar) and Awakened (Barely a Moment).

Stratum has sired 5 winners of 8 races at Kranji and Dark Matter is the first to salute from his second crop.  He was a $140,000 buy from home-base Widden Stud at the 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions.

Burridge wasn’t surprised with the strong win.  “He has an abundance of natural pace and he stretched out all the way to the line.  It’s good to be involved in a series like the Magic Millions Stakes with such good prizemoney.”

Dark Matter will be aimed toward the G2 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe (1200m) on May 20.  A son of Golden Slipper winner Stratum, he is from Brazilian G1 winner Loving New and is a half-brother to Brazilian G1 winner Questing New.

Stratum (Redoute’s Choice) has sired 59 winners of 94 races and among his award-winning first crop was Golden Slipper winner Crystal Lily.  He has another live chance this year with G2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Running Tall.
