Victorian based Rosemont Stud was active at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Sale on Monday and among its buys was a close relation to last year’s G1 Queensland Derby third Heidilicious.
Rosmont owner Anthony Mithen races Zabeel filly Heidilicious and among his purchases was Irish bred mare Careyes (Sadler’s Wells). The mare is a half-sister to the dam of Heidilicious and cost $30,000. She has already foaled English winner Art Eyes (Halling) who was also G3 placed in the Lillie Langtry Stakes.
Top price among Mithen’s buys was $110,000 for USA bred mare Amazing. She won 6 races and is by Mr Prospector sire Greatness from the family of champion filly Soaring Softly.
Bluegrass Hall topped the Kentucky Sale with a $200,000 bid for Fancy Prancer (Bertrando). The 13 year-old mare is in foal to Bluegrass Cat. Brad Kelley’s operation also appeared on the leader-board with Misty Daylight (Seeking Daylight) for $185,000. She was sold in foal to Patinack shuttler Lope de Vega.
Fasig-Tipton reported that 270 horses were sold for a total of $4.60 million. The average increased 11% to $17,044 and the median rose 5% to $6,000.
