Rosemont Stud buys into Makybe

Rosemont Stud owner Anthony Mithen has purchased part of Makybe.  News of the acquisition comes just days after Tony Santic announced nearly half of his 3200 acre property was on the market.

“It’s a dream come true,” Mithen said.  “There is not a better farm for producing A grade stock – Starspangledbanner, Arapaho Miss, Better Be The One, Headway and a host of others are proof of that.  I am certain we will be able to keep the ball rolling.”

Mithen said the stallion facilities at Makybe would now be the home for Danzero and first season G1 winner Toorak Toff.  A decision on whether Purrealist stayed at the farm is still to be made.

“We are now making sure Victoria gets a real chance to reassert itself as a state capable of retaining and standing the best stallions in the country,” Mithen added.  “We had to beat off a bunch of Hunter Valley farms to secure Toorak Toff and the response has been enormous.”
