Swettenham Stud’s Manhattan Rain – Amouage colt made the Top 10 leader-board at the Inglis Great Southern Foal Sale this week.
The colt was sold for $57,500 to NSW agent Ascot Heath on behalf of Swettenham client Todd Hartley who has several mares and foals on site at Nagambie.
Manhattan Rain is an Encosta de Lago half-brother to Redoute’s Choice. He won the G1 AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes and was runner-up to So You Think later that year in the G1 W S Cox Plate.
Based at Arrowfield alongside his older half-brother, Manhattan Rain got the Swettenham foal in his first crop. The colt’s dam Amouage was bred by Sir Patrick Hogan and his second dam Sursum Corda (Zabeel) is a sister to G1 winners St Reims and Champagne.
Hartley sent Amouage to Swettenham’s first-season shuttler Equiano last October. He bought the mare for $50,000 in foal to Manhattan Rain at last year’s Magic Millions National Sale.
