Noisy Ocean nailed the second leg of a Brisbane double for Raheen Stud at Eagle Farm on Saturday.  The Bryan Guy trained sprinter railed up to give connections a consolation result in the Lyndhurst Stud Hcp (1000m).  The winner had been first emergency for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on January 15 but didn’t get a start.

Noisy Ocean (2g Shovhog – Hepburn Rose by Sir Tristram) missed a run in the $2 million race after being collared by Five O’Clock at Doomben in December.  He reappeared on Saturday and edged out Biggles (Jet Spur) by a short neck in a busy finish at Eagle Farm.

“Missing a run in the Magic Millions may have been for the best,” Guy said.  “I don’t think we would have beaten Karuta Queen.”

Noisy Ocean is by former Raheen Stud sire Shovhog who died in November 2009.  Rocket To Glory was the first winner from his current crop of juveniles at Townsville in November.  He’s in limbo after trainer John Manzelmann sent the youngster to higher ground on the Tablelands to escape the floods.

Noisy Ocean is from an unraced Sir Tristram mare Hepburn Rose.  She has now foaled four winners and her latest is a weanling colt by Publishing.  She also has a yearling filly by Stromberg Carlson.  Second dam Penny Row (Bletchingly) was a Listed winner of the AJC Reginald Allen Hcp at Randwick.

If he pulls up well, Noisy Ocean will back up in the $150,000 QTIS 600 race at the Sunshine Coast this coming Friday.  Guy bought him for $15,000 from Raheen at the 2010 Magic Millions Summer yearling sale.

Raheen sire Stromberg Carlson claimed the first leg of the Raheen double when Hubert broke through in the Sky Racing Plate (1350m) at Doomben on Friday.

Hubert (3g Stromberg Carlson – On A Cloud by Brief Truce) is trained by Kelly Schweida and weighed in at his first three starts this time last year.  Given an extended spell, he returned in November and has gradually improved with three weeks between runs.  

Hubert took all the short cuts under apprentice Mitchell Wood to score by more than two lengths at Doomben.  Schweida has found the key to Hubert and, kept fresh, he can continue winning in what is still only his second preparation.

Hubert increased Stromberg Carlson’s record to 32 winners of 54 races from his first two crops.  His owners Kevin and Joanne O’Keefe have several in-form gallopers with Schweida including fast-class sprinter Ulladulla (Mossman), Eagle Farm winner Why Not Now (Choisir) and Doomben winner Round Up (Shovhog).
