Safusa on track for Magic Millions 3YO Guineas

Connections of Safusa know all about the thrill of winning the Magic Millions and they will be back on the Gold Coast for an encore performance next month.

Safusa (3g Elusive Quality – Zolaroyale by Dominion Royale) scored a runaway victory in the Magic Millions Wyong 3YO Stakes on Thursday and trainer David Pfieffer declared the gelding is on track for a trip to the Gold Coast.

The Warwick Farm based galloper was promoted the third line of favouritism for the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas on January 14 on the strength of a two-length victory over Angel Of Mercy (Hussonet) on Thursday.  It was his third win following priors at Kembla Grange and Canterbury.

Pfieffer trained Graceful Anna (Anabaa) to the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas double at Wyong and Gold Coast two years ago. “Three weeks between runs seems to suit him,” Pfieffer said.  “He’s a nice horse and I can’t wait to get him to the Gold Coast.”

Safusa’s owners Glenn and Viive Williams will be also out to complete a double – double following the Wyong – Gold Coast success of Karuta Queen (Not A Single Doubt) 12 months ago.

Safusa was bred in Victoria by Tarcoola Stud’s Ken Williams and sold through the draft of Segenhoe Stud for $45,000 at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  He is by former Darley shuttler Elusive Quality and is the only named foal from South African bred G3 winner Zolaroyale who died in November 2009.
