Safusa starts magic carpet ride with Magic Millions

Connections of Safusa will tread a winning path with Safusa to the $100,000 Wyong Magic Millions 3YO Stakes (1200m) on December 22.

Safusa (3g Elusive Quality – Zolaroyale by Dominion Royale) earned a start in the $100,000 feature after a comfortable victory in the De Bortoli Wines Handicap (1200m) at Canterbury on Wednesday.  The David Pfieffer-trained gelding had won a Kembla maiden in October.

Owners Glenn and Viive Williams were swept up in a Magic Millions magic carpet ride from Wyong to the Gold Coast with star filly Karuta Queen last year.  The Not A Single Doubt filly cost $30,000 at the 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions and has earned over $1.72 million.

Pfieffer experienced the same thrill with Graceful Anna who broke the track record in the Wyong Magic Millions two years ago.  The Canny Lad filly also claimed the G3 Vo Rogue Plate on her way to winning the $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Trophy at the Gold Coast.

Graceful Anna is another great advertisement for the Magic Millions.  She was sold for $14,000 at the 2007 National Foal Sale, then $25,000 at the 2008 Gold Coast Yearling Sale and thirdly for $38,000 at the 2008 National 2yo HIT Sale.

Safusa cost Glenn Williams $45,000 at the 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  He is one of 42 winners this season for former Darley shuttler Elusive Quality.  Champion colt Sepoy, and G1 stayer in waiting Induna head his three year-olds and brilliant filly Real Stolle got his last southern crop off to a flyer in the G3 VRC Maribyrnong Plate.

Safusa is the only named foal from G3 Kenilworth winner Zolaroyale (SAf) who died in November 2009.
