Satisfying weekend for Sacred Stable

Raffles Farm has capped off another satisfying weekend with an interstate city double for its (NZ) gallopers.

Raffles  manager Bruce Sherwin was delighted with the performances of Henwood (Savabeel) at Moonee Valley and Sacred Flyer (High Chaparral) at Rosehill.   “It was particularly satisfying to get that win with Sacred Flyer,” said Sherwin.  “It is a credit to Chris Waller and, as long as the horse can stay injury free, we will look at some of the rich country cups in the spring.”

Sherwin said a tilt at the G1 Metropolitan Hcp is also a possibility if he gets in with a light weight.

Group 1 Doncaster Handicap winner Sacred Falls (O’Reilly) is also continuing his build-up to a first-up start on August 24.  And Sherwin reports G1 New Zealand Oaks winner More Than Sacred (More Than Ready) has returned from her winter break in fine fettle.

“More Than Sacred looks absolutely magnificent,” he enthused.  “She has put on plenty of muscle through her shoulder and over her hindquarters and has really developed into her frame.

“We will give her a very slow spring preparation after she did plenty in the autumn so expect to see her around Wellington Cup time at this stage.”
