The Cleaner completed a clean sweep at Launceston on Monday with a convincing victory in the TOTE Tasmania Handicap. over 2100m.

The Cleaner (4g Savoire Vivre – Dash Of Scotch by Blessington) is a natural front running stayer and has now won his last three starts for Longford trainer Mick Burles.  “I bought him for $10,000 at the Tasmanian Magic Millions,” Burles said.  “I’ve been patient because he was always going to be a late bloomer.”

The gelding is a half-brother to Listed TRC One Thousand Guineas winner Private Nip (El Moxie) and Listed TRC Hobart Guineas winner Strait Dash (Aliocha).

Burles bought him for a partnership that includes Bill Fawdry, Jim Lowish and first-time owner Paul Burt.  “He can put himself into a race and that’s his biggest asset,” Burles explained.  “I think he will develop into a good stayer and we might aim him at some of the minor cups come summer.”

The Cleaner completed a double for Armidale stallion Savoire Vivre at Launceston.  The Kerrie McCarthy trained mare Love The Moment won the first leg in the Radio Sport National Hcp (1600m).

Champion Tasmanian sire West Quest also claimed a double with Westwina and Lavaca.  Both winners were ridden by former Queensland apprentice Matthew Milford and are homebreds for Grenville Stud’s Graeme McCulloch.
