Star three-year old Shoot Out can finish the year on a high for Stathi Katsidis in the G3 Vo Rogue Plate (Race 8 at 4.58pm AEST) at Doomben on Saturday. Katsidis returned to the riding ranks after a long-term injury earlier this year and he has ridden more winners than any other jockey in Australia this season.
Shoot Out was a G2 winner of the G2 QTC Sires’ Produce Stakes during the winter carnival and he returned to racing with an encouraging effort in the $100,000 Gold Edition Plate (1200m) at Eagle Farm earlier this month.
Shoot Out (3g High Chaparral – Pentamerous by Pentire) is being aimed at the G1 AJC Derby and will head to Sydney via the Gold Coast where he will contest the Magic Millions 3YO Trophy.
Shoot Out fetched $15,000 at the 2008 Magic Millions Premier Sale and is a younger half brother to G3 WATC Oaks winner Cassandara Shadow (Johannesburg). He is one of three stakes winners from the first crop of High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells) with the other two being G1 Cox Plate winner So You Think and G1 Victoria Derby winner Monaco Consul.
