Shoot Out crowned Queensland Horse of the Year

Outstanding galloper Shoot Out was crowned Queenland’s Horse of the Year at the Sofitel Brisbane on Saturday night.

The judging panel nominated Shoot Out (High Chaparral) for his second award in as many seasons.  He got the decision ahead of Buffering and Captain Sonador.

Shoot Out was a $15,000 bargain buy from the Oaklands Stud draft at the Gold Coast Magic Millions.  He is trained by John Wallace for Queensland couple Graham and Linda Huddy.

Shoot Out started the 2010-11 season with a strong win in the G2 J J Liston Stakes at Caulfield.  He also ran fourth in the Cox Plate and third in the Turnbull Stakes at G1 level.  Shoot Out also won the Champion 4YO & Up award.

Red Dazzler – Champion First Season Sire

Robert Heathcote – Trainer of the Year

Chris Munce – Jockey of the Year.

Justin Wood – Apprentice of the Year

Another highlight of the evening saw Group 1 winning horseman Brian Mayfield-Smith inducted into the Racing Queensland Hall of Fame.
