Trainer Cliff Brown looks to have a promising galloper in his care following the first-up win of Clear For Action at Kranji on Friday night.
Clear For Action (3g Commands – Petal Power by Exbourne) was heavily backed late in betting and he repaid that support with a convincing victory over Kiwi bred placegetters Carre Blanc (Le Bec Fin) and Exciting Ahead (Towkay).
“Clear For Action is a nice horse and right from the time he came to my stable I’ve had a good opinion of him,” said Brown. “He’s done everything right in his trials and in preparation for his debut.”
Brown said progeny of Commands tend to like a bit of give in the ground and the yielding track conditions were to his liking. “The ground was in his favour,” Brown added. “But I think he’s a nice horse who can go further.”
Clear For Action is owned by Newbury Racing and was a $120,000 buy from Epsom Lodge at the 2009 Gold Coast Magic Millions. He was purchased by Basil Marcus and sent to South Africa before re-routing to Singapore.
His dam Petal Power was a Listed winner John Galbreath Memorial at Beulah Park in Ohio. She was exported to Australian in October 2000 and had foaled winners by Canny Lad, Zeditave and Lonhro before her Singapore winner.
Clear For Action’s win was the 31st for Commands in Singapore.
