Singapore Captain set for Dubai

Perth Magic Millions graduate Captain Obvious will be set for a Dubai campaign after another brilliant barrier-to-box victory at Kranji on Sunday.

Captain Obvious (6g Verglas – Shathor by Highest Honor) was formerly based in Malaysia and has been a model of consistency since arriving in Singapore.  He won the G3 Jumbo Jet Trophy in September and has now earned the equivalent of AUD 490,500 from 13 wins in 21 starts.

“He’s such a genuine horse,” trainer Steven Burridge said.  “He was meeting some speedy sorts but was able to dictate his own terms.  He certainly has a bit of class about him.

“I haven’t decided what race he will go for in Dubai.  There is a 1400m race in January but there are two or three other races I could also look at.

Captain Obvious was purchased for just $24,000 from the Alwyn Park draft at the 2007 Perth Magic Millions.  Studmaster John Andrew has a Citidancer half-brother to Captain Obvious catalogued as Lot 30 at the 2012 Perth Magic Millions.

Ascot trainer Len Morton bought his younger brother by Balmont for $31,000 at the 2011 Perth Magic Millions.

Their dam Shathor is an unraced half-sister to Umah (Umatilla).  He was a G1 winner of the 1996 Karrakatta Plate and nowadays stands for a $1,100 (inc gst) service fee at Rana Park Stud near Manjimup.
