Premiership trainer Tony Gollan started the defence of his Brisbane crown with promising galloper Bentles on Saturday.
Bentles (4g Onemorenomore – Lady Gracious by Redoute’s Choice) never looked in danger while leading from barrier to box in the St Vincent’s Blue Angels Hcp (1600m) at Doomben. “He’s won two from three since being gelded,” Gollan said. “I will let the dust settle before deciding if he runs in another 1600m race here in two weeks.”
The son of Vinery sire Onemorenomore is a half-brother to LR VRC Gibson Carmichael Stakes winner Affable (Husson) and changed hands for $200,000 at the 2013 Gold Coast Magic Millions. He returned to the same sale-ring at the 2014 Patinack Farm Dispersal and made $55,000 to the bid of a syndicate managed by Jamie Bourke.
Stock Broker stoked a burgeoning Singapore connection for Onemorenomore at Kranji on Friday. He was rated to perfection by Corey Brown to win by more than a length over 1000m for Pusit K Stable.
“He’s no world-beater but I wish there were more horses like him in my yard,” trainer Michael Freedman said. “Horses that can hold their own in their grades.”
Stock Broker (4g Onemorenomore – Tinjirarni by Exceed And Excel) was bred by Greg Perry and cost $28,000 as a yearling from the Vinery draft at the 2013 Magic Millions National Sale. He is from a half-sister to G1 T J Smith Classic winner Apercu (Encosta de Lago) and his dam has a 2yo colt by Pluck.
Onemorenomore has had 5 runners in Singapore for 3 winners and 2 placegetters. His first two winners – Excellent One and Genius – were also placed in Group company behind champion colt Super One.
Vinery stands Onemorenomore for a $6,600 (inc gst) service fee.
