Six New Zealand winners for Lonhro

Lonhro continued his great start to the season when Royal Dude won the Premier Horse Transport Hcp at Ruakaka on Wednesday carving out 1000 metres in a quick 57.83s.

Royal Dude (4g Lonhro – Royal Snip by Royal Academy) is trained by Steven McKee and had won his maiden at Ellerslie on December 28 last year
Lonhro’s stakes winner tally has increased to five in recent weeks courtesy of Deer Valley (AJC Silver Shadow St) and Denman who will be gunning for his sire’s First Group 1 winner in the STC Golden Rose this Saturday.

Now based at Darley, Lonhro has sired 67 individual winners including 6 in New Zealand.

Royal Dude is a younger half-brother to Royal Babe (Rory’s Jester) who was Listed winner of the Avondale JC 2YO Fillies Stakes in 2004.  Their dam Royal Snip is a full-sister to Listed VATC Schweppes Cup winner Academy Dancer (Royal Academy).  Second dam Snippet’s Girl (Snippets) was a stakes winner in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Royal Dude was offered for sale at the 2007 Inglis Easter yearling sale as part of the Attunga Stud draft back was retained by his breeder when bidding stopped at $130,000.
