Size counts in Rugby Slipper

Queensland stallion Upsized experienced a false start at stud when his first winner Edgeroi Hope was disqualified after landing an Emerald maiden in February.

The Rockhampton based filly lost the race after testing positive to hepataminol.  Her stablemates Rare Find and You Done It Again were also demoted for similar offences after winning races during January.

Deputy Starr made no mistake for Upsized with a runaway victory in the Rugby Slipper QTIS Hcp (1000m) at Roma on Saturday.  Trained at by Mark Goodwin at Chinchilla, he was racing first-up for a syndicate headed by Jemimah Forde.

Deputy Starr (2g Upsized – Belle Of The West by Spritely Knight) cost connections $10,000 from Stewart Park at the 2011 Capricornia yearling sale.  His dam had thrown earlier winners by Ombra Della Sera and Encores and she was covered by Merlo Downs sire El Nino (USA) last year.

Upsized (Catbird) stands at Peacewood Thoroughbreds for a $1,650 (inc gst) service fee.  He won at Randwick and Canterbury and is from the immediate family of champion broodmare English Wonder (Twig Moss) and her G1 winners Dr Grace (Sir Tristram) and Asia (Danehill).

Peacewood is based between Roma and Charleville and it’s also home to Danehill stallion Dantibes.
