Snippetson kicks off with Kembla winner

Widden Stud freshman Snippetson sired his first winner when Remarkable Girl won on debut at Kembla Grange on Saturday.  The David Payne prepared filly was sent out favourite and she franked a Rosehill trial win with another strong performance on raceday in the Support Head & Neck 2YO Plate (900m).

Remarkable Girl (2f Snippetson – With Love by Favorite Trick) was a $51,000 buy at the 2009 Gold Coast Magic Millions from Ruane Stud.  Her dam was a Melbourne juvenile winner and second dam Loving Cup (Bluebird) was a most precocious youngster winning VRC Maribyrnong Trial (LR), MVRC Silver Jubilee St (LR) and SAJC Balcrest St (LR).

Snippetson (Snippets) was a $550,000 graduate of the 2003 Gold Coast Magic Millions when offered by Stratheden Stud.  He was a Listed winner of the Eskimo Prince Hcp and Maurice McCarten St and was also runner-up in the G2 Challenge Stakes and G3 Missile Stakes.

He is one of five stakes performers from Polish Precedent mare Snowdrift.  Her G1 The Galaxy winner Snowland heads the list and she is also the dam of G2 Surround Stakes winner Portillo.

Snowland retired to Widden in 2003 and sired G1 winner Absolut Glam in his first crop but a low fertility cut short his commercial prospects.  Snippetson has no problems on that count.  His fertility averages 88% and there are 112 foals from his first crop.

Snippetson stands for a $9,900 fee at Widden and he has been quoted at $11 by www.sportingbet.com.au for the Australian 2009-10 first-season premiership in the winners category.
